Active Seniors will offer two types of classes: Enhance Fitness and Matter of Balance.   • The Iamfine service provides an easy way for people who are living alone to check in every day, letting their loved ones know they are all right.  No technology is required other than a telephone.  Each day, the service makes a call to the person living alone.  By simply answering the phone and pressing "1", the loved one informs members of a customizable "care circle" that things are fine.  If no one answers, calls are repeated throughout the day, and care circle members are notified that someone may need to check on the loved one.

  • Last tax season I wrote about my own experience with Identity Theft,  I went to file my tax returns online, only to find that someone had beat me to it, and had already filed using my Social Security Number.  What transpired that day was a nightmare. She provides information on caregiving from a more clinical perspective and communicates in a very thorough and detailed style, yet in a way that's easy for caregivers to understand.

IdentityTheft.gov

I previously wrote about my own experience with Identity Theft,  I went to file my tax returns online, only to find that someone had beat me to it, and had already filed using my Social Security Number.  What transpired that day was a nightmare. By the end of the day, however, I had learned a lot and passed on helpful tips via my blog.  It was then I learned about IdentityTheft.gov. The site offers an easy to follow step-by-step plan in reporting and recovering from Identity Theft, and is easier then most government other sites to follow.  In reviewing the site, it provides you with the information I learned over an aggravating 48 hours. And the best part? You don't have to wait on a telephone queue for someone that will never answer.


I AM FINE (Iamfine)

The Iamfine service provides an easy way for people who are living alone to check in every day, letting their loved ones know they are all right.  No technology is required other than a telephone.  Each day, the service makes a call to the person living alone.  By simply answering the phone and pressing "1", the loved one informs members of a customizable "care circle" that things are fine.  If no one answers, calls are repeated throughout the day, and care circle members are notified that someone may need to check on the loved one.


Home Alone Alliance from AARP

The Home Alone AllianceSM is a partnership of public, private, and nonprofit sector organizations coming together to change the way health care organizations and professionals interface with family caregivers.

Almost half (46%) of family caregivers say they perform medical/nursing tasks. These include handling prescriptions, helping someone climb the stairs with a cane, and caring for and cleaning wounds. Family caregivers often do these tasks with no training or help from health care professionals.
